My Royal Faux Pas

President Obama can lift up the Queen with one hand!

I know. I heard. No one is supposed to touch the Queen. By now, I'm sure all of the news media has thoroughly covered my "royal faux pas".

I would like a chance to explain what actually happened. I had the opportunity to meet the Queen of England for the first time the other day.

We exchanged gifts. I gave her an iPod, a BlackBerry, a Kindle, a GPS, and a MintyBoost kit. She gave me a picture of herself.

We sat down for a nice chat. Surprisingly, we found we had a great deal in common. She was cordial; I was charming. We bonded.

When it came time for me to leave, she remarked how tall I was. I joked that I could probably pick her up with one hand. Then she looked at me with a royal twinkle in her eye and said, "I doubt that, Barack".

Then just for fun, I reached out, picked her up, and held her up with one hand. It was all in good fun and the Queen seemed to enjoy the view. No harm, no foul.

Berlusconi and Medvedev enjoy watching the recap of President's Obama's encounter with the Queen
Later that day, I watched the recap on the British TV news with Berlusconi and Medvedev.

Who said diplomacy is tricky?

Nope, this is not the official website of The White House. It's a parody of whitehouse.gov.  No person, department, or agency of the U.S. Government approved, endorsed, or authorized this site. No animals were harmed while making this website (except maybe that one time when I was a little late feeding my dog his dinner).
