I know. I heard. No one is supposed to touch the Queen. By now, I'm sure all
of the news media has thoroughly covered my "royal faux pas".
I would like a chance to
explain what actually happened. I had the opportunity to meet the Queen of England for
the first time the other day.
We exchanged gifts. I gave her an iPod, a BlackBerry, a Kindle,
a GPS, and a MintyBoost kit. She gave me a picture of herself.
We sat down for
a nice chat. Surprisingly, we found we had a great deal in common. She was cordial; I was
charming. We bonded.
When it came time for me to leave, she remarked how tall I was.
I joked that I could probably pick her up with one hand. Then she looked at me with a
royal twinkle in her eye and said, "I doubt that, Barack".
Then just for fun,
I reached out, picked her up, and held her up with one hand. It was all in good fun
and the Queen seemed to enjoy the view. No harm, no foul.
